Large Greek Horse Vase

This vase is 23' in height, made with a Black Mountain clay and a white Porcelain slip laid over. This vase includes both carving in an ancient technique called sgraffito, and painted underglazes to create a variety of colors on the white slip, in a figurative design of horses wrapped around the vase. The surface is faded and distressed in appearance. The outside is unglazed for stylistic purposes, with the inside covered in a white glaze for functionality. Not currently for sale.
